The Joy of a Horse

So warm are her withers under my fingers.
Stirruped feet cradle her girth.
A slightness of breath below me.
A small nudge of the leg and we're off.

Yesterday, while perusing the Facebook, I came across this posting from one of my Weimaraner loving friends....

2 photos|Back to Lana Schippers's Photos

These are the bracelets we have to raise money for our rescue. The wording is universal....Rescue A New Best Friend...if you mail me a check for 3$ I will mail the bracelet right back to you! Lana Schippers 915 Herold Ave. Des Moines, Iowa 50315 They are 2$ but envelope and shipping is a 1.00! Thanks everyone! Make sure you include your mailing address, or include a SASE puffy envelope and it's just 2$!

Although Lana operates a Weim rescue, like she says, these bracelets would be great for any breed lover, dog lover or even "animal lover." By ordering a bracelet you can support a rescue/foster program, show your support for animal adoption and look super cute, all at the same time. If you're on Facebook give Lana a shout or just mail your money to the address above and support a cause that I know ya'll are all passionate about.

"To call him a dog hardly seems to do him justice, though inasmuch as he has four legs, a tail, and barked, I admit he was to all outward appearances a dog. But to those of us who knew him well he was a perfect gentleman."

Strong Dog!

Okay... I had enough questions about it that I had to answer... it IS true... that is a REAL dumbbell (3lbs.) and "Mighty Max" (10lbs.) is sneaking away to his little lair with it! He usually steals away with socks (Me thinks he's part raccoon but without the proclivity for shiny... more about the stinky...). Sometimes we catch him before he gets out the door, but often we just find household items (mostly socks) in a dirty hole outside. Here, as is witnessed in the final picture, we caught him in the act of trying to stash the stolen weight in his bed... (notice also the dirty sock crammed in the corner that we missed him sneaking away earlier.) We have always known that Max is part Pom but now we are taking a long, hard look at what his other part could be... ferret or cat burglar perhaps?
